Small Print/FAQs/Terms & Conditions etc

Here's an attempt to provide you with everything you need to know about ordering - and receiving! If it doesn't answer your specific question, contact us and we'll do our best to answer/accommodate your query.

Availability

Meat - Our produce is, genuinely, exclusive, limited and seasonal! Mutton and lamb are available from October until March, hogget from March until September and beef when we've got it! Unfortunately, we do run out from time to time and, for that reason, our immediate response to your order will be to confirm or indicate next availability. We also run an order book throughout the year, operating on a 'first come, first served' basis, which allows you to plan ahead and avoid disappointment. Wool - We generally carry a large stock of natural wool and fleece and, having confirmed your order details, will ensure postage within 48 hours. Coloured wool is commissioned to order and you may need to allow 3 weeks before delivery.

Ordering

Submit an order form and you start the ball rolling. We'll get back to you within 48 hours to confirm receipt, availability and agree any details including butchery instructions, delivery and payment. If we are able to process your order immediately, we will issue an invoice on despatch. If the product is not immediately available, you will be placed on the order book but are not committed until we can confirm availability.

Delivery Costs : Traditional & Organic Meat Boxes

Our meat is supplied in specially insulated boxes which can be delivered by 24 hour courier wherever you live in England, Wales or the Scottish Lowlands. The cost will depend on whether you purchase a Mini (5kg) or Midi (10kg) Box - and on where you are!

Delivery Costs : Wool

Wool is generally sent using standard post. The exact price will depend on the amount ordered and will be confirmed as a part of the order confirmation process.

Payment

Having confirmed the order and delivery details, we will invoice on despatch. Payment is due within 14 days of invoicing - by cheque, bank transfer or good, old-fashioned cash!

Processing : quality and integrity

Full traceability of all our produce is guaranteed. The farm is quality assured to 'Little Red Tractor' standard whilst both farming and processing standards are certified by the Soil Association as meeting their organic producer and processor requirements.

Meat : The use of a small, local abattoir continues our commitment to animal welfare whilst meeting stringent meat hygiene and organic processing requirements. Hanging, butchery and packing is done at Food Centre Wales where state of the art buildings provide optimum cold store, cutting and refrigeration facilities and meet the highest of food safety standards. We personally oversee and are actively involved in all points along the processing chain - that's a personal guarantee of quality to the very best of our ability. Wool : Great care is taken to retain the organic integrity of our fleeces throughout processing. We use a small, contract spinner whose methods have been independently verified as meeting the Soil Association's Global Organic Textile Standards. Dying is commissioned from a local dyer whose own processing, including the use of natural, sustainably sourced pigments, is unique in achieving organic certification. This means that our organic fleeces are processed and dyed in an environmental sustainable way to achieve a wool which is not only unique but also free of pesticides or any other potentially harmful chemical residues.

Packaging

Packing is kept to a minimum and, so far as technologically possible, recycled and, with the exception of vacuum pack pouches, recyclable/reusable. Most importantly, if you can return your insulated meat box, you'll qualify for 10% discount on your next order! Finally, our preference for business by email reduces the paper mountain potential of our admin systems!

Durability

Meat : We vacuum pack to allow fresh storage for up to 3 weeks with dates clearly indicated on every pack. The thermal insulating material in our meat boxes ensures meat is kept at below 5 degrees in transit - so that you can choose what you'll use within the coming fortnight or so, and freeze. Once frozen, the meat will last for 6 months beyond its labelled 'use by'.Wool : Treat your wool with care and follow the cool, handwash instructions, you should enjoy it for many years to come. Some natural changes are to be expected from the dyed wool as pigments fade or deepen in time. These will add to the uniqueness and sense of age of the wool - but you may want to bear this in mind if you are concerned about exact of colour matching.

Feedback - please!

Be they eulogies or complaints, we really value comments and feedback - and are keen to develop a relationship with our customers. It's the only way we can make sure that what we're doing is what's wanted, that it meets the kind of quality to which we aspire and ensures the viability of our small farm and, most especially, our livestock. So:

If you like our produce ... let us know, we'll be thrilled and it may help us extend it to other happy customers! If you're not sure about our produce ... raise the issue and we'll take it seriously. It may be that you're identifying something that we've missed - and we'd rather put things right when they're small than wait ... If you're disappointed in our produce ... then tell us, we'll want to put it right - for you and everyone else. It may be that we have fallen below the standards which you have a right to expect - in which case a refund may be appropriate. It may be that we have fallen below the standards to which we have committed - in which case some form of replacement may be appropriate. Either way, we'll also need to make changes to the way we do things in order to avoid it happening again - and we can't fix problems if we don't know they're there.   If you fancy keeping in touch just for the hell of it ... then why not?! And we'll add you to our Farm Friends and keep you up to date with what's happening, what's selling and what's on its way!

Confidentiality, Data Protection - and Ystrad SPAM!

Our business depends on our customers! For that reason, we treat everything we know about you with care and regard your information as confidential to us. Having registered an interest in the farm and, hopefully, ordered from us, we would like to send you details of our seasonal produce from time to time. If you don't want to be on our mailing list, tell us using the form below. We won't take offence - unless you are Juliet's mum!

Slight price increase on the delivery costs, sorry. Dare I mention the price of diesel ... ?
