Why organic?
Why?! Because we're passionate about:
our environment – organic farms are better for wildlife and our low input/quality output approach a move towards low carbon agriculture; 'muck' and clover are key to soil fertility and farm productivity, we've chosen breeds specifically for their environmental compatability and our 'gate to plate' processing is complete within 30 miles of the farm;our animals – organic farming prioritises health and wellbeing through an organic, GM-free and forage-based diet, low density stocking, clean grazing, spacious housing, stable groupings, compassionate handling, a preference for homeopathic medication – and, ultimately, the use of a local abattoir working to high humane slaughter standards;our customers – research shows that organic food is better for you (more essential minerals, trace elements and antioxidants) whilst grass-reared animals yield higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids; all our produce is farmed without the use of chemical pesticides, artificial hormones or growth-promoting drugs and with traceability guaranteed.Plus, through our annual Soil Association inspection, we can prove it.
