This page is devoted to those people who have just started making a really special contribution to the farm and our lives - a tribute to our WWOOFers!!
WWOOF is an international exchange scheme which hooks up organic farms with interested volunteers. The volunteers get food, accommodation and the chance to learn about living and working on an organic farm. The farm gets an extra pair of willing hands. A trade-off of time, interest and expertise - which, we have just discovered, works both ways!
So here's to our fantastic WWOOF-ers:Amandine and Laure from France who started it all, transforming our lives, the farm and the village in December 2008 - all for the better!Sarah from Canada who, in January 2009, stole my dog's heart, and was such a glutton for punishment that she came back for lambing a couple of months laterMarion from France who moved 120 sheep, within 48 hours of arrival, using nothing more than a gentle "Allez!" to get them into the trailerErin, from Vermont, who singlehandedly and tirelessly tore down metres of fencing that had defeated everyone before herKarin from Germany who, on the 50th birthday trip of a lifetime, formed a special bond with an orphan heifer ... now her namesake Ruby from Taiwan who picked enough elderflowers to make champagne for 100's ... but left before it was ready for drinkingBrittany from sunny California who shovelled muck and carted silage and generally helped us wrestle through the toughest winter ever Erica, from California, and Andrew, from Oregon, who weeded and dug and hacked and chopped and cooked and baked before rendering me jobless at shearingGiselle and Eric from France who repaired and then lime-mortared an entire wall before joining forces with Jenny from Missouri and Camilla from Oxford, to achieve the critical mass necessary to clearing 6 years worth of brambles and shrubbery from a 200m stretch of woodland track
And we're looking forward to welcoming more! Given that there is always far too much to do - from livestock keeping to barn renovations to fleece scouring to environmental works - we can't wait!!!
Btw - if this sounds like it might be your kind of thing, hit the photo to check out the WWOOF website for more incl. details on how to join.
